Talk 1: A journey in geospatial timeseries - Nils Larsgård
Have you unlocked the geospatial powers of PostgreSQL yet?
This talk will show 3 neat features of how to use postgresql in a somewhat unusual way to handle geospatial timeseries in an unknown domain. The talk will give an introduction to how to use json-types in postgresql, the postgresql-extensions postgis to handle geospatial data and the postgresql-extension timescaledb to handle the never-ending stream of geospatial data.
The story of the talk is marine traffic in Norwegian waters with open data from the Norwegian Coastal Administration, presented in an application made by the author.
Talk 2: AI Unwrapped: How we made a christmas calendar app only using AI generated Code - Joakim Lund
This year, at Avinor we wanted to try both AI and Blazor at the same time and decided to combine them to create a digital Christmas calendar for the holidays.
To make it more difficult for ourselves, we chose to not write any code ourselves but solely rely on the code given to us by tools such as ChatGPT and other AI tools.
In this talk, I will share the prompts we used to get this project going, how we got lost along the way, and how we got real practical experiences of the benefits and failures of using AI as a tool.
You'll see examples demonstrating the varied behaviors of AI tools, everything from successes to unusable outputs, some of which were humorously off the mark.
The goal of this talk is to inspire the audience to explore new technologies by engaging in projects within knowledge-sharing forums. Simply dive into a fun project and see where it leads you.
Talk 3: Playing to Win: How much play should you have at work? - Marion Løken
How much play should you have at work?
Is play a waste of time or is there something in it? 🤔
You work in tech, so you might have a foosball table at work—maybe it's even used in your job posting illustration. 🏐 🖼️ But is it used?
Play was not really organized, nor prioritized in our team until two fresh-faced graduates 👩💻👩💻 injected a dose of excitement and transformed the way we spend time together into a thrilling adventure! 🚀
Our journey kicked off with a team retrospective, echoing the universal truth that psychological safety and trust thrives on deeper connections 🤝. As we brainstormed ways to bridge the familiarity gap, unexpected actions emerged – "breaks" and "play." 🤔
What unfolded next? Monthly lunches seamlessly morphed into playdates 🎮, and a weekly playtime 📅 became the norm. I'll admit, I had a smidge of worry about an overdose of play and too little focus on getting things done 😅. But fear not! This whimsical journey, backed by science, unravels why play is more than just child's play at the office. 🎉
In this lighthearted talk, we'll explore the narrative of rethinking 'play' and 'breaks,' delving into the science behind the dynamics that unfold when you engage in games with your colleagues. Spoiler alert: It's not merely about fun; it's about cultivating a winning team.
Join the conversation to explore why breaks aren't for slackers; they're the power-ups for tech teams aiming for victory! 💻🏆
