From null to applications on Kubernetes

For many, Kubernetes is a big hurdle to get over. In actuality, it's just a platform for running applications with many built-in features, and is no less complicated than running applications on any other platform.

There is a lot that happens up to the point where your code hits the node, and even after that one has to be weary that defaults usually aren't the best approach.

In this session, we start with an empty git repository, build a shiny new application, squeeze it into a container which we then ship to a Kubernetes cluster, and in the end expose it to the world. Think of this as a development cycle speed run.

Roberth Strand

Roberth is a self-proclaimed "cloud automator", and works primarily with Microsoft Azure infrastructure, Platform Engineering, DevOps and Cloud Native technology. He has been awarded the title Microsoft Azure MVP (2021, 2022, 2023, 2024), CNCF Ambassador (2023, 2024), and previously HashiCorp Ambassador (2021, 2022, 2023). He has been an active speaker for several years, talking at everything from small local meetups to KubeCon.

Furthermore, he initiated Cloud Native Norway, which hosts events and supports the cloud native community in Norway. Additionally, he is active in the Cloud Native Computing Foundation as co-chair of TAG App Delivery, maintainer of the OpenGitOps project, and previously a co-chair of the CNCF Platforms Working Group.
