Rethinking Tooltips with Interest Invokers and Popover API

Tooltips are often used on the web to convey extra information about our content, such as displaying the meaning of an icon or to display keyboard shortcuts associated with an action. Historically we have used a combination of CSS and JavaScript to handle behavior, placement, and accessibility needs. Today with the newly supported functionality provided by Interest Invokers used in combination with the Popover API, we can radically simplify our implementations. This talk will cover what interest invokers are, how to implement them, position and style them, and and reasons to use them over the historical JavaScript techniques.
