Sustainable Azure - Tools & Patterns for Carbon Aware Cloud Applications

Our industry is responsible for around 4% of global Carbon Emissions - rising sharply. In the climate crisis, everyone is called upon to take action to achieve the 1.5° target. As software developers, we have the the knowledge and the opportunity to reduce the emissions of our software.

In this Session, Aydin will give a first insight into how we can create climate-friendly and resource-saving applications with and through Microsoft Azure.

What services and tools does Azure offer us to minimize the Carbon Footprint of Cloud-Application and how we can measure the emissions at all?

Aydin shows us recommendations on system architectures with the Azure services that have the lowest emissions impact and what disadvantages they may have?

How can we ideally scale the workload, "switch off" not needed resources or shift the computing load to a point in time with high amount of renewable energies in the power grid?
