Swiss cheese, teamwork and other things we should learn from the aviation industry

How did “metal tube, 12 kilometres above the ground” become one of the safest ways to travel, and how can it make you a better developer, designer, or manager? The aviation industry has turned teamwork and iterative improvement into a science, and proven their importance time and time again. With their radical attitude towards failure, their understanding of what makes for a good team and their reverence of the once-controversial checklist, there is still so much we, as IT professionals, can learn from aviation. Expect to walk away from this session with a new perspective on how we make products, with fresh ideas based on wisdom from one of the world's most interesting industries.
